Lowe's has an awesome program for children. They offer wood working kits that include the apron, wood, nails and stickers. At our Lowe's, they have picnic tables inside the store for the children and their parents to work on. Every child gets a hammer to borrow as well.
These projects are always a lot of fun, and it teaches the kids to put things together following directions. The other aspect of this program that I love is that the kids get patches for each event. The patches can be sewn on to the apron or on to some other program sash or vest. My girls put them on their Girl Scout vests.
Cost: FREE!
